Really

Happy Wednesday Evening!
I’m realizing that many of those old sayings I heard as a child are true. It’s really true as you get older things become so much clearer. On my train ride home today, all these “really” questions kept popping into my mind. So I thought I’d share.… Some are silly, some are deep, but they all make me think, really?!. :-)

Is it really better to have loved than to never have loved at all?
Is it really better to give than to receive?
Is life really what you make it?
Is it really true that this too shall pass?
Are men really wired differently?
Does it really matter if I eat dessert first?
Is it really never too late?
Are dreams really real on another level?

What do you think? What I really know for sure is that we all are on a unique journey aiming to make the best of what we got, and maybe spread a little joy and get a little goodness along the way.

I can think of a few things I really know for sure today:

~Color therapy really works for me. Every time I caught a glance of my bright pink blouse today I felt a little giddy!

~Feeling sunshine on my forehead really cheers me up.

~Making my mom and dad proud still really makes me happy!

~A long, hot shower really de-stresses me.

~3 day work weeks really rock!

~There’s no such thing as failure, only new ways of growing, learning and being.

~Laughter really is contagious.

2 cents Tidbit Tuesdays~ this/that made me smile today

Today was a great day to be off. The first day of this year I was able to go outside without a jacket. Yeah baby! It's the little things....So as I was walking down the streets of Brooklyn on my way to Prospect Park, I was really embracing the now. The small, but precious things that make life so wonderful. Here are some of the things that put a smile on my face and joy in my heart today. Would love to hear what made you smile today. Sending energy and sun sparkles your way!

~I stopped by Brooklyn Crepe and the smoothie guy made too much so I got a medium size yummy mango, peach, apple and ginger smoothie after paying for a small. Woo hoo. :-)!!!
~Trees are one of the most beautiful creations on earth. This one caught my eye on my stroll down the block. I love seeing full blossoms!
~I am a sucker for decor. I spotted this photo at cafe Fez, made me smile!

~Lately, I'm drawn to cute baby boutiques.  These onesies are just---ahhhwah! :-)

~and I couldn't leave out something that always brings a smile to my face."Sunshine, everybody loves the sunshineeeeeeeeee." What a sight to see at the end of the day. Look at that sun!

**Lastly, Tracey Morgan really made me laugh out loud today during his appearance on Oprah. He was funny as usual, but also he seems pretty grounded. I like him. He still has that boyishness about him when he talks about working with people he's admired in his new movie, and even when he described Lorne Michaels and Tina Fey. He appears to have kicked his alcohol habit and is doing well. I hope he stays steady.
So, Oprah asked him what's the most romantic thing he's ever done...and his response made my cheeks hurt.
Tracey's answered.."I bought her a box of Calgon and let it take her away....Oh, the most romantic thing I've ever done...I painted her toenails, she had fingernail polish all over her feet, but...it's all about simplicity."

In life, I'm learning it's all about being in the moment. Relishing in the now. Letting go of the past and not being worried about the future. Each day I get a little closer to being more in the now by enjoying the little things. Laughing a bit more, sharing a little more, loving a lot more.
What was your high of today? I love hearing what makes folks stop and smell the peonies. :-)

She's smiling from heaven

Wow. I finally took the time to create my own blog. Yay! Life is so wondrous. Constant lessons and sprinkles of joy. You can feel a hundred feelings in 24 hours. Today my mom called early afternoon to chat and to tell me that great grandma Susie passed away last night. She died on Easter. Grandma Susie is my maternal grandmother's mom. She lived 95 years.

As my mom told me of her passing I suddenly recalled my childhood visits to Statesboro, Georgia, (the "country" as we all called it), where grandma Susie was born and lived much of her life. (She also lived in Rochester, NY during the prime of her life and returned to Statesboro to live the last phase of her life). She always welcomed us with lots of hugs and a tall glass of the sweetest iced tea ever. I remember her big smile, her infectious laugh, her feisty wit, and her unforgettable "hey babys" which she called all her grandchildren.Today, I was reminded of how independent and self-reliant my great grandmother was. She chose to put herself in a nursing home (more like a senior apartment living community) a few years ago as opposed to living with my grandmother or anyone, because she loved being on her own. Today, I am inspired by grandma Susie to live on my own terms. ~Love. Learn. Give. Live.Today, I feel proud to know I come from a line of strong women. My grandma Susie lived a long, good life on her own terms. I honor her life. I am a representation of her wit, love, and spunk.I continue to learn more about her. The more I learn the more blessed I feel!
Thanks for making me smile. I love you grandma Susie. You will live in my heart forever.
